Halloween Party With A Fanciful Twist

Hello Spooky Ones!

I hope your 2014 Autumn season has been full of pumpkin spice lattes, fabulous scarves, and fuzzy slippers!  As for me - I've been reveling in my favorite time of year in New Mexico.  Crisp mornings with azure blue skies full of balloons are fantastic - just don't crash into another car on your drive to work.

There are only a few days left until my daughter's 4th birthday and then Halloween.  This year the theme for her party is Adventure Time!  She loves it...we love it = win/win!

As for Halloween - I've been prepping this year by doing a lot of pinning!  I've been a ghoulish Pinterest crazed maniac for over a month.  You can look at all of my favorite Halloweenie things HERE.

Until the BIG days (the 30th and 31st) I'm super excited to announce my 1st Annual Halloween Party with A Fanciful Twist, happening today!

I love Vanessa Valencia - major major art-girl crush <3
I'm happy to say that I am the proud owner of some of her stickers and postcards, and eventually I'd like to collect a few of her awesome mixed media prints - SWOON!  I especially love The Star Girl Follows Her Dreams and Tea Party - Avant Garden Wonderland.  In addition to her wonderful art she is also an amazing blogger.  Her articles are full of prose and fantastical photographs of flowers and sparkly things.  Check it out by clicking the image below.

If you would like to participate in the party today all you have to do is:

1.  Comment below with the link to your blog's web address.

2.  Save the image above, post it on your blog and link it back to http://afancifultwist.typepad.com

3.  Link my blog http://belovedbijou.blogspot.com AND http://afancifultwist.typepad.com to your blog

4.  Visit some of the other blogs on Vanessa's site and do the same.

5.  If you don't have a blog then skip steps 1 through 3.

Happy Halloween!

Create The Stars

Good morning sparkly dears,
So,  I get an email this morning from Wix, the company I use to create my websites.  In light of the fact that over 37,000 new stars have been discovered, they have created a site for creating and dedicating stars.
How cool is that?!?!  So I created one in honor of my grandma Adela, whose birthday would have been just a day or 2 ago.  She also passed away a couple of years ago near her birthday, so I thought it would be a nice little present for her.

Nail Wraps

Hi my pretties,

I have been invited to several virtual Jamberry Nail Wrap parties and I was a bit hesitant to actually buy anything.

As a crafty lady I have more manual dexterity in my pinky than most people do in both of their hands but, I'm not very coordinated when it comes to painting my nails.  I always just sort of slap the paint on, I let it get on my skin, and then I just wash off the excess once it has all dried.

And I'm sure we all remember the Lee Press-On Nails fiasco.  You go pick up a can of coke and your nail pops off. Or you run your fingers through your hair and 2 out of 5 nails come out still on your fingers.

So, taking these things into consideration, I decided to buy some of the cheaper nail wraps from Avon first to see if I could actually do it.  This is my first attempt.

I think I did pretty well.  I also think that the Jamberry wraps will be easier because they will be thicker and more rigid.  These ones are thinner, stretchy-ish plastic.

You can see here where I messed up on my middle finger, and also the puckering at the tip of my index finger.  I am glad that I practiced doing with with some less expensive versions before I bought the Jamberry wraps.

So now that I've determined that I can do it by myself I went online to the Jamberry site to check out the patterns.
Here are my favorites.

They have several cute Halloween styles but when you search for Halloween nothing comes up. Weird.

I'm naturally drawn to florals - love them! They have lots but again,  when you search for flower or floral only a couple come up...I'm noticing a pattern. ..

The Ultimate List of Craft Show Tips & DIY Display Ideas from Everything Etsy

Hello readers,
I just read this article on EverythingEtsy.com and I had to share it with you!   These are some great tips. Definitely an article to print or make into a craft show checklist.

The Ultimate List of Craft Show Tips & DIY Display Ideas http://www.everythingetsy.com/2014/10/ultimate-list-craft-show-tips-diy-display-ideas/ (Via Bloglovin')

I also thought you might like to see my craft show table.  ^.^

These are actually old photos but my booth display hasn't changed much...
This one was from Herb Fest at the Rio Grande Nature Center.

And so was this one.  This is me holding my daughter when she was a baby and my friend Kate from Gilded Lily Jewelry.  She also makes vintage assemblage jewelry and it is really fun to make stuff with her because we bounce ideas off of each other.

My ever popular flapper mannequin.  I get so many compliments on her!
I got her on Ebay.

My vintage jewelry box - I also get lots of compliments on this, as well as people telling me that their grandma had one just like it!  I was lucky enough to be able to barter some of my jewelry for it.  I really wanted it because I wanted something that I could store my jewelry in between shows and then just basically open up and put on the table - easy!

This is another display item that I searched high and low for.
I really needed a tall necklace rack that swiveled.
It is hard to tell from the picture but this displays my long necklaces perfectly!

And last but definitely not least - my dress form.  I love this for so many reasons.  It is my size (before I had my daughter), I can dress it up or dress it down, I can pin stuff to it because it is made out of foam,  and it is an eye catcher.  People notice it :-)

Also, I love to use vintage table cloths to cover my plastic craft show tables.
I think they really class is up!
